It’s Sunday night and I’ve had a great weekend with my family.   As I type this, I’m on the train back to the city and mentally preparing myself for the week ahead. Not because the work week is something that I don’t enjoy, or feel like I have to just get through before I can have another weekend, but because it’s going to be a busy week with a bit of work travel and I want to make the most of it! To make it the best it can be.

Enthusiasm, see. Not dread.

This weekend was very different to weekdays in the city. The pace was much slower, and it was far more oriented towards just chatting for chatting sake – no agendas, no goals, just spending time with the people you want to hang out with.

I find it quite hard to get into the ‘just relax’ mindset, but it’s important that I try once in a while.   It used to feel impossible. I’m getting better.

It was harder to think of 3 separate, finite things today – not because there was nothing good, but because everything just came together in one big ball of heart-warming awesomeness.

Harder, but not impossible.

So, my top 3 things;

  1. This afternoon was spent with my not-yet-two year old niece. Her bubbly enthusiasm for everything is contagious, and she gives the best hugs.
  2. We baked muffins! Two batches of muffins; mixed berry, and chocolate chunk. The muffin tops on these were perfect. Crispy on the outside and beautifully cake like in the middle. I need to find a way to replicate this with my own oven. Watch this space.
  3. We fed the sheep on the section. That probably shows just what a city kid I am, but these sheep have character and were funny lil’ buggers. Though, when the feed ran out their interest wanned… quickly.

It wasn’t a particularly productive day, but it was exactly what I needed.
